If you want to search for someone on Instagram, and successfully view their account, you may find that tricky. That’s because many users think that they need to be logged in to see the information. But what if there are some methods that allow you to view photos and details of Instagram profiles without the need for an account?
That’s possible, but it comes with limitations. So, you’re not going to see everything on people’s profiles. Users can adjust how people can search for them. Also, they can block search engines from indexing their content. That being said, here is how you can uncover that data.
Viewing photos
Luckily, Google can easily index pictures behind users on Instagram. So, there’s always a possibility that the person you look for has photos on Google. Consequently, there is always a way to find users by images through search engines. Now, to get them, follow these steps.
Type in the search box the name of the person, followed by Instagram photos, like in the next screenshot.
'Their name' Instagram photos
I tested this method, and it works. You can find photos on Instagram in Google easily. But once you try to access them on the app, you’ll be blocked. There is one more trick you can try. Simply right-click that photo on Google Chrome and open it on a new tab. That will open it, but not in full-size preview; that’s the one saved on the Instagram servers.
Now, to get that page and see it normally, you need to be logged into your account. So, yes, you can view them but outside of Instagram. You may ask: Why would that happen?
That’s because of the Insta app privacy settings. In fact, users can enable that by blocking access from outside the app to see their pictures and details. However, Google somehow accessed those images and indexed them for millions of users. That’s what happens with other social media apps, including TikTok, Facebook, and X (Twitter).
Now, by carefully reading their official page about, who can see the details on the app, Instagram clearly indicates that no matter if accounts are public or private, certain information can be seen publicly. So, it’s not a surprise that people can search for users ‘s photos and see them indirectly through search engines.
Additionally, you still have the easiest option, which is accessing their account. Just type their username after the site URL when you’re visiting their profile.

Use browser extensions
Now, there are a couple of extensions that you can use in a web browser. The following options work with Instagram anonymously. So, try them, and make sure you tell us about them in your comment below.
Ghostify: This Chrome tool allows users to browse Instagram accounts, including their stories, anonymously. There is no need to have an account as the above method. This tool works even if you don’t follow the users in question. So, when a person on Instagram has a private account, you can try this solution.
Stories Hub: With this extension, you can see stores and live videos on Instagram without being logged in. So the account owner won’t be able to know that you watched their live stories. In addition, it’s simple yet powerful, with features like uploading photos and more.
Ghost Viewer: With this anonymous IG viewer, you can watch the stories of users you don’t follow. Best of all, when you use the tool, they won’t track your view because you’re in ghost mode.
Story Space: In addition, to Instagram, this useful tool comes with anonymous Facebook browsing. So, you can combine both features and watch stories on the Meta platforms, even if they’re private. But that, of course, won’t be all the time working at 100%. That depends on many factors, like how the account owner is configuring their privacy and public visibility settings.
Other options
As social media networks connect to each other, you can think about the other Meta apps. So, Facebook and Instagram, for example, are interconnected even if that’s not visible. When you signup for Facebook, it suggests Instagram as an option, and vice versa. So, both platforms allow users to add their profile photos there. Also, users can share Instagram photos through Facebook, which may be useful sometimes.
That means you can browse someone’s Facebook to see the photos they shared previously on Instagram. Surprisingly, some photos I see on Instagram were shared by the same user on Facebook in full-screen view.
You can even search Facebook, like Instagram anonymously. However, always try to use multiple methods, such as the ones I talked about.
Meanwhile, other apps like Pinterest or Snapchat can help you see photos that people share on their Insta app. That depends on how those people manage their privacy there. However, when you find someone on Snapchat, for example, you can browse their account and see if they share some from Instagram.
Conclusion
As you can see, the Instagram platform allows users to view other people’s accounts, including photos and videos, even from outside the platform. So, in some cases, the settings under the user’s account can prevent guest views. In other cases, you can easily see what’s in on people’s profiles without the need to log in.
That means it’s not always the same for everyone. You may try to browse pictures of a specific friend, but you only get small-size previews. Or you can get the full experience by seeing their posts and stories, just like being logged in.
